How Should I Prepare for My Massage?

To ensure you receive the most benefit from your session, please review the following guidelines:

Shower beforehand.
A shower or bath is highly recommended before your massage, especially if you’ve been working out, at work all day, or in the sun. Clean skin allows for a more comfortable and hygienic treatment.
Avoid heavy meals.
Please allow at least one hour between eating and your massage session. A full stomach can make it difficult to fully relax.
Stay hydrated.
Proper hydration helps reduce the likelihood of lightheadedness or headaches after your massage.

What to Expect During Your Massage?

Your comfort, safety, and therapeutic goals are always the priority.

Before Your Session
We will begin with a brief consultation to review your health history, discuss any areas of concern, and clarify your goals for the session. This ensures your treatment is customized to your individual needs.
Privacy & Draping
You will be given privacy to undress to your comfort level and lie on the massage table under a sheet and blanket. Only the area being worked on will be professionally draped at all times. You also have the choice to have your session entirely clothed. If you choose to leave your clothes on please dress in comfortable cotton clothing like a t-shirt and sweatpants for your session.
During the Massage
Your session may include a combination of techniques such as deep tissue work, myofascial release, trigger point therapy, stretching, or relaxation techniques, depending on your needs. Pressure can always be adjusted — please communicate if you would like more or less pressure at any time.
Communication is Welcome
You are encouraged to speak up about temperature, positioning, pressure, or any discomfort. This is your session, and your feedback helps create the best outcome.
Relaxation Response
It is common to feel deeply relaxed, sleepy, or even emotional during or after a massage. This is a normal response as your nervous system shifts into a restorative state.
Confidentiality
All information shared with your massage therapist is kept confidential and will not be disclosed without your consent. The only exception to this is when disclosure is required by law, such as in cases involving risk of harm to yourself or others, or as otherwise mandated by legal or regulatory authorities.
